PATHFOOD project partners’ meeting in Warsaw

The two-day meeting provided an opportunity to align project goals, discuss implementation strategies, and strengthen communication among the partners. The initiative is funded under the Horizon Europe programme.

On 12–13 September 2024, the PATHFOOD project partners met at the Biological and Chemical Research Centre of the University of Warsaw to officially launch the collaborative efforts toward building a sustainable production chain for selenium-enriched functional food.

The two-day meeting provided an opportunity to align project goals, discuss implementation strategies, and strengthen communication among the partners. The initiative is funded under the Horizon Europe programme.

Participants included representatives of all partner institutions:
University of Warsaw (Coordinator)
Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain)
Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche – Istituto per i Sistemi Biologici (Italy)
REDINN SRL (Italy)

Special guests included Marcin Płatek from the UW Centre for Technology Transfer and Knowledge and Katarzyna Jaeger from the UW Press Office. Emanuela Galeazzi, Project Officer from the European Research Executive Agency (REA), joined remotely.

The event also featured an informal programme – a walking tour through Warsaw, a taste of Polish cuisine, and a sweet surprise: PATHFOOD-branded mini cakes.

PATHFOOD focuses on developing innovative cultivation and food processing methods to enhance selenium bioavailability, improve public health, and contribute to the EU’s climate goals. The project involves several UW units, including the Biological and Chemical Research Centre, Faculty of Biology, and Faculty of Law and Administration.

The project is coordinated by Prof. Ewa Bulska, with Dr Magdalena Michalska-Kacymirow serving as project manager.
